The Clash’s former road manager Johnny Green takes John Cooper Clarke the Poet Laureate Of Punk to The Arts Council Stage at The Electric Picnic 2012. Super event with classics like Beasley Street and Hire Car rocking the tent. JCC launched a well measured tongue-in-cheek attack on Johnny Cash regarding Cash’s real “Bird” credentials.
The event was held at The Mindfield Area at The Electric Picnic.
On The Arts Council Stage was John Banville, Man Booker Prize winner for his novel The Sea, who was joined by Joe Duffy for a special episode of ‘Talk To Joe’. Booker Prize-winning authors Roddy Doyle and Anne Enright, as well as Claire Kilroy, Keith Ridgway, Kathleen MacMahon delighted the audience. Eoin Colfer and Michael Lang were among the other names who were on hand over the course of what was an outstanding weekend of words, music and visuals.
Eyes dead as vicious fish
Look around for laughs
If I could have just one wish
I would be a photograph
on a permanent Monday morning
Get lost or fall asleep
When the yellow cats are yawning
Around the back of Beasley Street
